Sky Ferreira called out her label on Saturday (July 28) for allegedly locking her out of her own SoundCloud account.
The singer, model and actress posted a lengthy message directed at SoundCloud, saying that she was “forced/told I had no choice” to hand over her login information to her label, following the release of her album. Ferreira did not mention her label by name.
“They gave me the wrong information & changed it so I can no longer access it. The person who changed the login is unreachable & the contact no longer exist. I need it back ASAP,” she wrote on Instagram. “I ended up bamboozled.”
The 26-year-old said that she deserved to have the account back because she built up her followers without the direction of her label. She added that the platform should be one where artists have freedom. “I earned the hundreds of thousands of people that follow the account without my label & have never had help/paid for anything on social media or whatever. I think of soundcloud as the website that allows musicians to have freedom,” she explained.
In an email to Billboard, SoundCloud stated that they are in contact with “Sky, her management team and label to see if we can help.”
Ferreira has teased new music recently, but has also been open with fans about the difficult process it’s been to get there. On Sunday (July 29), she tweeted that the experience has been “a rollercoaster through hell” and “learning experience” (to put it nicely).
The only thing I can say is I am truly confident in what I’m making/capable of & it’s truly been a rollercoaster through hell in order to make it happen this time. It’s been a learning experience (<——— word choice is too kind) &…

Ferreira released her first studio album Night Time, My Time in Oct. 2013, which debuted No. 45 on the Billboard 200. She announced back in April 2015 she was working on a sophomore album, Masochism, which was tentatively due out the following year. It never came, but Ferreira has since starred in a handful of film and TV roles, including Lords of Chaos, Baby Driver and Twin Peaks.
Billboard has reached out to Ferreira’s label for comment.
