Sirius XM’s Eddie Trunk to Host 5th Annual Ronnie James Dio Memorial Bowling Tournament

Sirius XM host Eddie Trunk will host the 5th annual Bowl for Ronnie celebrity bowling party in honor of former Black Sabbath member Ronnie James Dio.

Sirius XM host Eddie Trunk will host the fifth annual Bowl for Ronnie celebrity bowling party in honor legendary rocker Ronnie James Dio.

This year’s Bowl for Ronnie will be held at Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, California, on Nov. 7 and will benefit the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.

The event will feature a celebrity bowling tournament and a raffle drawing for prizes and memorabilia. Last year’s event sold out in advance and raised a record $74,000 for the cancer charity, which is now in its 10th year of raising awareness and much-needed funding for cancer research.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund was formed in memory of the legendary rock singer who lost his life to gastric cancer in 2010. A privately funded charity organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has already raised over $2 million in its short history.

Previous Bowl For Ronnie events have brought together entertainers and artists such as Tom Morello, Jack Black, Geezer Butler, Sebastian Bach, Richie Sambora, John 5, Ahmet Zappa, Phil Demmel, members of Tool, Mastodon, Black Star Riders, Stone Sour, Rough Cutt, Dio Disciples and many more. This year’s celebrity bowlers are expected to be announced shortly.

Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T. J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research and other cancer research projects. It also contributes funds to the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Dio was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life.
