Mexican pop duo Sin Bandera earns its first No. 1 on Top Latin Albums (chart dated March 12) with Una Ultima Vez, a five-song EP that starts with 2,000 copies sold in the week ending Feb. 25, according to Nielsen Music.

The pair (Noel Schajris and Leonel Garcia) split in 2007 after a successful five-year run that yielded 12 entries on Hot Latin Songs, including the eight-week No. 1 “Mientes Tan Bien” (2003-04). The duo’s comeback was announced in 2015 with a series of tour dates and new single “En Esta No,” which bullets at No. 39 on Hot Latin Songs. An interactive 360-degree music video for the song (above) was released Feb. 25.

Thalia Tallies 14th Top 20 Hit:  Thalia soars 40-18 with “Desde Esa Noche” (featuring Maluma) on Hot Latin Songs, scoring her 14th career top 20 on the tally. The song takes top Digital Gainer and Streaming Gainer honors following a performance of the urban/pop track on Univision’s Premio Lo Nuestro awards show (broadcast live Feb. 18), with the majority of gains reflected in the tracking week ending Feb. 25. Sales of the song grew 113 percent (to 2,000 downloads), sparking its 18-7 jump on Latin Digital Songs.

Mozart La Para Crowns Tropical Songs: Dominican urban act Mozart La Para earns his second No. 1 (and first as a lead artist) on Tropical Songs, as “Toy Enamorao,” featuring Sharlene and Nacho, hops 3-1 in its 15th charting week. (It rises 13 percent in plays at the format, in the week ending Feb. 28.) The upbeat track follows his first crowning arrival as a featured act on Sharlene’s “Aqui Nadie Toca,” which reached the top of the chart on the August 8, 2015 list. Singer Sharlene scores her third career No. 1 with the rise of “Enamorao.” Fellow featured act Nacho notches his eighth career chart-topper — and first as a solo act. As part of Venezuelan pop/tropical duo Chino & Nacho, the pair has scored seven total No. 1s.

Gerardo Ortiz’s Sixth Airplay No. 1: Over on Regional Mexican Airplay, singer Gerardo Ortiz scores his sixth crowning song with “Por Que Terminamos” (stepping 2-1), becoming the solo act with the second-most No. 1s on the chart. Ortiz is bested only by chart veteran Vicente Fernandez — who holds seven chart-toppers on the airplay ranking. A 5 percent increase at the format, to 11.2 million audience impressions, causes the chart-leading climb, while also helping it to remain at No. 7 on Hot Latin Songs for a fifth consecutive week- its current peak. Streaming of the track grows 15 percent (to 621,000 weekly clicks), also aiding in the top 10 stay.
