Shinedown regains sole possession of the most top 10s in the history of Billboard‘s Rock Airplay chart, as “Get Up,” the second single from the band’s album Attention Attention, rises 12-10 on the Nov. 24-dated list.
“Get Up” becomes the Florida rockers’ 11th top 10, breaking the band out of a tie with Foo Fighters for the most top 10s in the chart’s nine-year history. The song earned 5.9 million rock radio audience impressions, a boost of 5 percent, in the week ending Nov. 18, according to Nielsen Music.
“Get Up” follows a period of near-misses for the band; after peaking at No. 8 in August 2015 with “Cut the Cord,” each of Shinedown’s four subsequent singles peaked within Rock Airplay’s top 13 but were unable to crack the top 10. During that span, Foo Fighters racked up four top 10s.
Most Rock Airplay Top 10s
10, Foo Fighters
9, Cage the Elephant
8, Imagine Dragons
The success of “Get Up” on Rock Airplay is thanks in part to the song’s crossover status on the Alternative Songs airplay chart, a list that Shinedown once made with relative ease, but has found a tougher path to in recent years as the format has softened in sound; Attention Attention lead single “Devil,” for instance, missed the list. “Get Up,” meanwhile, bullets at No. 31 on the latest Alternative Songs chart (down a spot from its No. 30 high), the song markedly less hard rock than many of the band’s preceding singles.
“Get Up” nears the No. 1 spot on the band’s home chart, Mainstream Rock Songs, lifting 3-2. Should it reach the top of the list (and early airplay data for the latest tracking week has it in the running), it would become Shinedown’s 13th No. 1, slotting the band into a tie with Van Halen for the second-most leaders in the chart’s 37-year history; only Three Days Grace, with 14, has more.
Attention Attention, Shinedown’s sixth studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart dated May 19.
