ATTENTION ATTENTION, the band’s sixth studio set, starts atop the May 19-dated charts with 61,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 55,000 are via traditional album sales.
Shinedown previously ruled all three charts with Amaryllis (April 14, 2012; 106,000 copies sold). That’s also the Brent Smith-led act’s only other No. 1 on Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums before ATTENTION ATTENTION; they logged another No. 1 (of three) on Hard Rock Albums with Threat to Survival (Oct. 10, 2015; 61,000).
The new album marks Shinedown’s fourth top 10 on the Billboard 200, bowing at No. 5, its second-best rank, bested only by Amaryllis‘ No. 4 peak.
Shinedown’s first set solely produced by its Eric Bass, its bassist, yields three entries on the latest Hot Rock Songs chart, including lead single “DEVIL,” which jumps 16-11 as the chart’s greatest gainer in streaming and digital downloads. Additionally, “MONSTERS” and “THE HUMAN RADIO” chart at Nos. 39 and 41, respectively.
“DEVIL” concurrently places at No. 2 on the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart for a third week in a row. Should it reach No. 1, it would become the band’s 12th chart-topper, one behind the all-time record held by Three Days Grace and Van Halen, with 13 apiece, dating to the chart’s 1981 launch.
