Shawn Mendes’ New Album Heading for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Shawn Mendes is on his way to a third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, according to industry forecasters, and with his biggest week ever.

Shawn Mendes is on his way to a third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, according to industry forecasters.

Those in the know suggest Mendes’ new self-titled album, which was released on May 25 via Island Records, could earn over 165,000 equivalent album units in the week ending May 31. Of that sum, traditional album sales could comprise over 135,000. Both figures would represent new highs for Mendes.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the June 9-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Mendes’ new album will debut) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, June 3.
