The artists’ first collaboration arrives with 6.1 million U.S. streams and 3,000 downloads sold in its first week, ending Feb. 4, according to MRC Data, after its release Jan. 29 via Interscope Records. The all-Spanish-language tune begins at No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales and No. 3 on Latin Streaming Songs.
With 4.7 million radio audience impressions (Feb. 1-7), the song also soars onto Latin Airplay at No. 23.”Baila” follows Gomez’s “De Una Vez,” which likewise launched at its No. 4 high on the Jan. 30-dated Hot Latin Songs chart. The songs introduce Revelación, her forthcoming first full Spanish-language set.
“I knew I wanted a male voice on ‘Baila Conmigo’ and I love Rauw’s voice; I think he brings the right amount of sexiness to the song,” Gomez tells Billboard. “I have to say I am blown away by the response to the first two songs. I put my heart and soul into the music and wanted it to be perfect, so I am very grateful.”
“Baila” earns both 28-year-olds their third top 10 on Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data. Prior to her latest two entries, Gomez spent 13 weeks at No. 1 in 2018-19 as featured, with Ozuna and Cardi B, on DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki.”
Alejandro, meanwhile, nabs his highest Hot Latin Songs career rank, besting “La Nota” with Manuel Turizo and Myke Towers; the collab reached No. 5 three weeks ago. In September, his first top 10, “Tattoo” with Camilo, reached No. 7.
“I always knew that this song was going to be a hit ever since I entered the studio with Tainy,” Rauw Alejandro tells Billboard. “‘Baila Conmigo’ has a unique vibe. I am so thankful for the support that the fans had given us and with Selena for having me as a guest in this incredible track.”
The Tainy, Albert Hype, Jota Rosa, and NEON16-produced “Baila” is Gomez’s third leader on Latin Digital Song Sales and Alejandro’s first.
Elsewhere, the song debuts at No. 74 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart, earning Alejandro his first entry. Gomez adds her 36th, with “Baila” outpacing “De Una Vez,” which spent a week at No. 92.
