Ithaca Holdings, the media holding company led by SB Projects founder Scooter Braun, has renewed its partnership with Jason Owen’s Sandbox Entertainment.
Ithaca first invested in Nashville-based Sandbox — whose clients include Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town, Midland, Kelsea Ballerini, Devin Dawson and Faith Hill — five years ago. Braun and Owen co-manage Dan + Shay. Musgraves snagged four Grammys at the Feb. 10 ceremony, including album and country album of the year. Dan + Shay won for best country duo/group performance, and the duo’s Dan Smyers won for co-writing best country song, “Tequila.”
“Jason Owen has not only become a close friend, but a brilliant business partner,” Braun told Billboard. “The last five years our respective teams at Sandbox and SB Projects have thrived together. I’m excited we are extending this relationship through Ithaca Holdings and together look forward to many more years of fun and success.”
Owen added, “Scooter and I have always shared a fundamental belief that artists come first and delivering the best for them means bold, innovative thinking. We are a great team and greater friends. So it makes perfect sense to renew our partnership and I look forward to developing future game-changing ventures. Plus, I am always happy to be the byline to Scooter’s headline any day.”
The renewed partnership, for an undisclosed time frame and financial commitment, does not include plans to manage more acts together. Among the acts Braun manages are Ariana Grande, Zac Brown Band and Justin Bieber.
Recent Ithaca Holdings’ investments include Atlas Publishing, which Ithaca purchased last month, and a partnership with former BMG U.S. head Zach Katz’s Raised in Space investment group, also announced in February.
