Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE) and Brew Ha Ha Productions have announced the third edition of craft beer and music festival Scallywag. The single-day event will return to Waterfront Park in San Diego on Oct. 20 and premiere in four new cities this September.
The festival dates will have a rotating lineup of Rancid, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Reel Big Fish, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Less Than Jake, The Interrupters, and more.
“Back for its 3rd installment, Scallywag! is going to be bigger than ever with an incredible lineup of breweries and epic bands! Rancid, Bad Religion, Pennywise and friends will pair perfectly with the brewery lineups we’ve got in store for 2018!” said Scallywag co-producer Cameron Collins of Brew Ha Ha Productions in a release.
Brew Ha Ha Productions and SGE also produced Fat Mike’s Punk In Drublic and Camp Punk in Drublic with the NOFX frontman. NOFX and Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies were dropped from the June 1-3 Camp Punk in Drublic lineup after Fat Mike and NOFX guitarist Eric Melvin made insensitive remarks about the Route 91 Harvest Festivals shootings that left 58 dead and many more injured.
“We played a song about Muslims and we didn’t get shot. Hooray,” Fat Mike said at their Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival set in Las Vegas on May 27.
“I guess you only get shot in Vegas if you are in a country band,” Melvin replied.
“At least they were country fans and not punk rock fans,” Fat Mike added, garnering groans from the audience.
Stone Brewery, which sponsors the Punk in Drublic festival and created a beer of the same name, cut ties with the band and events following the remarks.
Stone Brewery, along with Avery Brewing, Wild Barrel, Funkwerks, Burgeon Beer Co., Thr3e Punks Ales, Artifex Brewing, and Pure Project, will take part in the Scallywag festival. Across the five dates, those breweries and more will hold tastings of over 100 beers until 4pm. Brewery selection will vary in each market.
Dates for Scallywag include: Sept. 22 at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver, Colo.; Sept. 23 at Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin, Texas; Sept. 29 at White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Wash.; Sept. 30 at CenturyLink & Grove Plaza in Boise, Idaho; and Oct. 20 at Waterfront Park in San Diego, Calif.
Tickets go on sale Friday (Aug. 3) at 10am local time. Lineups for each date can be found at Scallywagfest.com.
