Sasquatch! Music Festival Cancels Second Weekend

Sasquatch! announced today (March 21) on its website that the second weekend of its festival will no longer take place.

For the first time in its 12-year history, Sasquatch! Music Festival planned to expand to two weekends in 2014, offering an initial weekend of music in late May and another over the Fourth of July.

However, that plan will not come to fruition. The festival announced today (March 21) on its website that the second weekend will no longer take place.

The festival cited an influx of support for its usual Memorial Day weekend timeframe and lack of corresponding support for the Fourth of July weekend as its reason for the cancellation.

Sasquatch! Music Festival: Outkast, Soundgarden, Robyn Top Separate Lineups

“The Sasquatch! community has spoken,” Jeff Trisler, president of Live Nation Seattle, said in a statement on the website. “They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend event with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only.”

The festival will refund those who purchased tickets for the second weekend via Ticketmaster in the coming days. Passes for the Memorial Day weekend show are still available via Live Nation’s website.

Sasquatch! had already announced multiple performers for the Fourth of July weekend, including Soundgarden, Kraftwerk, New Order and Frank Ocean. According to the fest’s website, certain performers will attempt to make other arrangements at venues in the area around that time.
