Sam Hunt was arrested early Thursday morning (Nov. 21), on charges of driving under the influence in Nashville, Tenn., Billboard can confirm.
“We arrested Samuel Hunt overnight,” the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s public affairs spokesperson tells Billboard.
The country singer was reportedly driving down the wrong way of Nashville’s Ellington Parkway with two open containers in his car.
According to Davidson County’s Criminal Court Clerk records, Hunt was arrested and booked on Nov. 21 and charged with a misdemeanor for an open container as well as DUI charges. He is due to appear in court on Jan. 17, 2020. He was released from jail at 9 a.m. on a $2,500 bond.
The news of Hunt’s arrest was first reported by Nashville’s WKRN.com. The news site claimed that the 34-year-old singer was pulled over after his vehicle was spotted “going the wrong way” and reportedly “swerving in and out of his lane” when a traffic stop was initiated. An arrest warrant shows Hunt had a blood alcohol level of .173.
