Quickly rising dancehall artist Shenseea hit the ground running in 2022, from collaborating with Megan Thee Stallion on saucy single “Lick” to releasing her anticipated debut album ALPHA this March. Now, on Thursday (April 21), Billboard learned the artist has scored a worldwide publishing agreement with S10 Publishing in partnership with Avex USA.
S10 Entertainment founder and CEO Brandon Silverstein — who manages Normani and Anitta — launched S10 Publishing in 2020. Since, his roster has scored a Hot 100 No. 1 with Justin Bieber’s “Peaches,” co-written by client Harv. The venture has also published hits by artists including The Kid Laroi, Selena Gomez, 24kGoldn and more.
Shenseea herself has collaborated with a wide range of talent, including Tyga (on the 2019 hit “Blessed”) and Kanye West, while ALPHA featured 21 Savage, plus dancehall greats Sean Paul and Beenie Man. She’s signed to a record deal with Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records and a management deal with We Good in partnership with SALXCO.
“Shenseea is an incredible artist whose writing ability and freestyling is unparalleled,” says Silverstein. “In writing sessions and in the studio, she’s a dream collaborator because she’s having so much fun that it’s contagious. She first charmed her home of Jamaica before breaking into the U.S. market and now there’s no doubt that she’s going to break globally next.”
Adds Naoki Osada and Lucas Thomashow, president and senior vp of Avex USA, respectively: “When we heard Shenseea’s music for the first time, instantly we realized she was something really special, a once in a lifetime talent.”
Together, the publishing partnership will help Shenseea develop and break both in the U.S. and internationally. That’s a priority for the Jamaican artist, who says, “Brandon and his team understand my vision and share my hunger to make it happen, and that’s the most important thing. I’m excited to work with S10 and Avex to bring my career and team to a whole new level.”
S10 Entertainment (headquartered in West Hollywood) offers management, publishing and recording services and also operates as an investment company. The company’s partnerships include Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and Ryan Tedder’s Artist Driven Records, and in January the company extended its deal with Japanese music company Avex Inc.
Shenseea recently attended Interscope’s Coachella party and in June will perform in New York as part of NYC Pride’s annual concert series, Pride Island.
