Ruben Leyva Named SVP At Sony Music US Latin

Ruben Leyva has been named the Sony Music U.S. Latin SVP, Artist Services and Premium Content, Billboard has learned.

Ruben Leyva has been named the Sony Music U.S. Latin senior vp, artist services and premium content, Billboard has learned.

Ruben Levya, who won a Latin Grammy Award in the Best Longform Video category for Pedro Capo’s En Letra de Otro, joined Sony Music in 2003 as vp of sales for the U.S. Latin label and quickly rose to the position of managing director/president, which he held from 2008 through 2011 and was responsible for signing marquee artists such as Pitbull and Romeo Santos as well as overseeing an artist roster that included Shakira, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Thalia, Chayanne, Victor Manuelle, and Calle13.

As a key partner to US Latin from the regional office where he most recently served as svp, business development, Levya oversaw strategic commercial and entertainment partnerships, monetizing the content and bringing value to Sony Music Latin roster of artists.

Under his role, Leyva will be overseeing business insights, catalogue, licensing, merchandising, business development, original content and distributed labels. 

Ruben Levya will report to Alex Gallardo, president of Sony Music US Latin.
