Compton, California-based rapper Roddy Ricch leads Billboard‘s Emerging Artists chart (dated Dec. 14), rising 2-1 to become the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time, thanks to a pair of songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

Mustard’s “Ballin’,” featuring Ricch, ranks at No. 16 (powered by 19.8 million U.S. streams in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music), while “Tip Toe,” featuring A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, debuts at No. 83.

Ricch’s Emerging Artists coronation follows the Dec. 6 arrival of his debut solo LP, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial.

Ricch dethrones NLE Choppa on Emerging Artists, who had ruled for 11 total weeks and dips to No. 2.

The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard‘s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.

Rounding out the Emerging Artists top five, singer/producer Trevor Daniel rises 4-3, “Baby Shark” stars Pinkfong dip 3-4 and rising country singer Matt Stell holds at No. 5.

Among other chart moves, rapper Don Toliver bows at No. 9 on the strength of his debut single “No Idea,” which arrives as his first entry on the Hot 100, at No. 72. The track also opens at No. 20 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 28 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with 12.8 million U.S. streams (up 137%).
