Rostrum Records has signed rapper Rockie Fresh to a multi-album deal, the label announced on Tuesday (Oct. 23). The news coincides with the Chicago native’s release (Oct. 23) of his new single and video “No Satisfaction.”
“Rockie has long been an artist I’ve admired,” said Rostrum founder and President Benjy Grinberg in a statement. “And I’m proud that we can be a part of history in releasing his official debut album. Over the course of making this project, I have gotten to know Rockie well. He’s not only an incredible artist but also a wonderful person. It’s really special when you find both of those qualities in someone. I can’t wait for everyone to hear this music.”
Added Fresh: “I’ve always had a lot of respect for Benjy and the system he’s built at Rostrum. Now that we are working together, I fully understand why he’s been so successful in building the careers of some of my favorite artists. His trust in my vision has allowed me to be in a great place while creating this upcoming album. I would say that the future is very bright for both Rostrum and myself.”
Previously signed to Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group in 2012, Fresh has collaborated with a diverse range of artists from Ross, J. Cole, Meek Mill and Nipsey Hussle to Ty Dolla $ign, Ed Sheeran and Hit-Boy. Fresh first hit the national scene in 2009 with his mixtape Rockie’s Modern Life. To date Fresh has earned 8.5 million on-demand streams, according to Nielsen Music.
Launched in 2003, independent label Rostrum Records also counts Innanet James, Taliwhoah, Caleb Brown and Lambo Anlo among its eclectic roster of R&B and hip-hop talent.
