Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Heathens’ Breaks Record for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot Rock Songs Chart
The 'Suicide Squad' soundtrack song spends its 28th week atop the tally.
Twenty One Pilots‘ “Heathens” continues not to make any sudden moves, or any at all, from the top of Billboard‘s Hot Rock Songs chart. Now with 28 weeks at No. 1 (as of the chart dated March 4), “Heathens” — the duo’s single from the Suicide Squad soundtrack — has spent more time atop the chart than any other song, dating to the tally’s June 2009 inception.
The track breaks out of a tie for the most weeks spent at No. 1 with Walk the Moon‘s “Shut Up and Dance,” which led for 27 weeks between April and October 2015.

In all, Twenty One Pilots have spent a combined 60 weeks atop Hot Rock Songs, more than double the amount of second-place Foo Fighters (30). The twosome’s “Stressed Out” led for 23 weeks, while follow-up “Ride” ruled for nine (beginning June 25, 2016).
“Heathens” also led the Alternative Songs airplay chart for 11 weeks, and the all-rock-encompassing Rock Airplay list for nine, while peaking at No. 2 for four frames on the all-format Billboard Hot 100.
On the March 4-dated Hot Rock Songs chart, where “Heathens” claims the No. 1 longevity mark all to itself, the track wins top Digital Gainer honors, as it sports a 24 percent increase to 19,000 downloads sold in the week ending Feb. 16, according to Nielsen Music.
Twenty One Pilots were nominated for five Grammy Awards, including best rock song for “Heathens,” with the pair winning (and gleefully accepting sans pants) the best pop duo/group performance Grammy for “Stressed Out” at the Feb. 12 ceremony.
