It makes sense that after years of anchoring some of the world’s greatest mixtapes with his band’s glorious mope rock, The Cure‘s Robert Smith has put together a massively great, gloomy lineup for this summer’s Meltdown Festival. The initial list of acts for the 25th year of the Festival — which will take place at London’s Southbank Centre from June 15-24 — includes Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody Valentine, Deftones, Placebo, Manic Street Preachers, Kristin Hersh, 65daysofstatic, Alcest, The Anchoress, Kathryn Joseph, Mogwai, The Notwist, Mono and the Libertines.
Smith’s Cure will also be sharing a stage with a few relative contemporaries in The Psychedelic Furs and The Church. “As each invitee confirms, as each shimmering piece falls into place, I pinch myself,” Smith said in a statement. “This is really happening… and the complete picture will undoubtedly be out of this world!” Click here for details on tickets.
