Robbie Robertson Signs With Primary Wave for Publishing Administration, Marketing

Primary Wave Music Publishing has struck a marketing and administration deal with songwriter and guitarist Robbie Robertson, the company announced Thursday.

Primary Wave Music Publishing has struck a marketing and administration deal with songwriter and guitarist Robbie Robertson, the company announced Thursday (Nov. 14). The publisher now represents the majority of Robertson’s catalog, including songs he wrote for The Band such as “Up On Cripple Creek”, “Rag Mama Rag” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.”

“I so look forward to mixing it up with Primary Wave. They bring a progressive outlook to today’s musical landscape,” said Robertson in a statement. “I find something extremely refreshing and ambitious about their working process. We have a lot of ideas in common, and I think this is going to be a terrific relationship, that I’m very excited about.” 

In addition to Robertson’s music catalog, Primary Wave will also work to market his name and likeness.

Robertson is best known as the lead guitarist and primary songwriter for The Band, with whom he performed until 1976. He has additionally released several albums as a solo artist and is a well-regarded soundtrack producer and film composer known for his collaborations with Martin Scorsese on films including The King of Comedy, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street and the director’s latest, The Irishman.
