Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney Debut on Hot 100 With ‘FourFiveSeconds’

The first single from Rihanna's next studio album enters the Hot 100 at No. 54 following the song's arrival on Jan. 24. It also launches on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 12.

“FourFiveSeconds,” from super-trio tweeted on Jan. 24, directing followers to her website prominently featuring a link to purchase the song in the iTunes Store. In the song’s first 48 hours of release, fans sent more than 614,000 tweets about Rihanna and the track, according to Twitter. It reached No. 1 on the real-time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart and enters the weekly recap at No. 14.

The song marks the second charted collab between West and McCartney: West’s “Only One,” featuring McCartney, debuted and peaked at No. 35 on the Hot 100 three weeks ago. (It departs the chart this week.) It entered Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 11 and slips 21-31 this week. “One” has sold 230,000 downloads to date and serves as the lead single from West’s forthcoming album, which, like Rihanna’s next set, doesn’t yet carry a title or release date.

The Hot 100 arrival of “FourFiveSeconds” pads the impressive histories on the chart for all three of its stars. West makes his 64th visit, Rihanna her 47th and McCartney his 45th, including his work fronting Wings, but in addition to his 71 appearances as part of the Beatles. His 116th combined solo, Wings and Beatles Hot 100 hit bows just after the 51st anniversary of the Beatles’ first entry: the Beatlemania-launching “I Want to Hold Your Hand” debuted at No. 45 on Jan. 18, 1964. Two weeks later (Feb. 1), it reached No. 1 for the first of seven weeks on top.
