Written by Mark Sanders and Tia Sillers, “Dance” was released as the first single from Womack’s same-titled LP, which debuted at No. 1 on Top Country Albums. The set produced an additional Hot Country Songs top 10, the Rodney Crowell-penned “Ashes by Now” (No. 4).
Powered by its life-lesson lyrics and sweeping hook, “Dance,” Womack’s lone Hot Country Songs No. 1, also crossed over to pop formats, spending 11 weeks atop the Adult Contemporary chart.
Now 50, Womack is the mother of two; Aubrie, from first marriage to artist Jason Sellers, and Annalise, with current husband, producer Frank Liddell. Following in her parents’ footsteps, Aubrie Sellers’ debut album, New City Blues, debuted and peaked at No. 23 on Top Country Albums in 2016.
Womack, whose most recent album, 2014’s The Way I’m Livin’, hit No. 18 on Top Country Albums, will tour with Americana/folk vet Patty Griffin for a string of acoustic shows this month.
