On June 7, 1997, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, then 30 and 29, respectively, soared to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart with “It’s Your Love.” The love song led in just five weeks, tying for the fastest flight to the top since 1975 (when C.W. McCall’s “Convoy” rolled to No. 1 in four frames).
From McGraw’s album Everywhere, the Stephony Smith-penned “Love” ruled for six weeks. It went on to win vocal event of the year honors from the Country Music Assn. and the Academy of Country Music.
McGraw and Hill have since charted four more collaborations on Hot Country Songs, all of which reached the top 10; the most recent, “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s,” hit No. 7 in 2014. McGraw has earned 52 career top 10s and 26 No. 1s on the chart, with “Humble and Kind” having led in April. Hill has achieved 23 top 10s, including nine No. 1s.
“Love” reigned after McGraw and Hill had married on Oct. 6, 1996. They have three daughters: Gracie Katherine (18), Maggie Elizabeth (17) and Audrey Caroline (14).
