Online artist services company ReverbNation today announced the first prong of its artist incubator CONNECT, which represents a crop of new artists hand-picked by company executive Simon Perry, who will guide the artists and provide them “meaningful opportunities to build their careers,” a company spokesperson John Vlautin tells Billboard.
The first initiative of CONNECT is a partnership with SESAC, which CONNECT invitees will gain an invite for membership into. The invite-only performance rights organization which represents 30,000 songwriters, composers and publishers. The PRO employs that client exclusivity to leverage for better royalty rates — an option not available to ASCAP or BMI, which are governed by the consent decree, established in 1941.
The company says that there will be more announcements in the coming months tied to the CONNECT initiative aimed at offering its “gifted and talented” class of artists further opportunities to push their careers forward.
