Just a month after Billboard reported that Katy Perry had lined up her first Las Vegas residency at The Theatre at Resorts World, the pop star and American Idol judge stars in a trippy new promo for the future Sin City resort/casino — and she’s not alone. Also starring in the almost two-minute spot: Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Celine Dion, Zedd and Tiësto.
The “Stay Fabulous” video follows a couple as they wake up to a kaleidoscopic Vegas wonderland, starting with Perry as a mermaid sending a rubber boot up a fishing line to her fellow Idol judge Bryan. Next, Underwood saunters down a piano staircase wearing a blue taffeta ballgown and catches a twinkling butterfly in her hands before sending it up to Tiësto’s DJ booth in the sky. Finally, Zedd plays some rooftop pinball, and the arcade game contains a lilliputian Dion, who stops the silver ball with her golden stiletto.
There’s a lot going on here — but what does it all mean? Billboard reported last week that Tiësto has signed a three-year deal with Resorts World’s Zouk Nightclub and Ayu Dayclub, and Zedd has also been announced for the nightlife venues, but there has been no official word yet from the resort about residencies for Perry, Underwood, Bryan or Dion at the 5,000-capacity theater.
According to a press release accompanying the promo, “The commercial offers a sneak peek of the astounding entertainment to come as a result of the unprecedented partnerships between Resorts World Las Vegas, Concerts West / AEG Presents and Zouk Group.” Details about the resort’s live lineup will be announced in the coming weeks, and the hotel is now booking reservations starting on June 24.
Dion shared a clip of the promo Tuesday on her Instagram, writing, “A little teaser for a fabulous reveal.” Dion is no stranger to Vegas: She has the two highest-grossing and best-selling Sin City residencies of all time, but both were performed at Caesars Palace, so this would mark her first time at a new home on the Strip.
Underwood — who would be brand-new to the world of Vegas residencies, as would her country peer Bryan — shared a teaser on Tuesday too, captioning her Instagram post: “I’m all aflutter with something exciting coming.” Vegas vet Zedd wrote, “Excited to show you something cool,” while Tiësto teased, “Something special launching … Can you guess what it is?”
