Republic Promotes Michael Horton to Executive VP
Republic Records has promoted Michael Horton to executive vp, the label’s founder and CEO Monte Lipman announced Wednesday (Aug. 18).

Republic Records has promoted Michael Horton to executive vp, the label’s founder and CEO Monte Lipman announced Wednesday (Aug. 18).
In his elevated role, Horton will continue overseeing promotional campaigns for the Republic and Island Records rosters at the hip hop and R&B format, including A-listers such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, The Weeknd and Post Malone, as well as emerging and breakthrough acts like Jacquees, Kiana Ledé and Pop Smoke. He is based out of Republic’s New York headquarters.
“For the past twenty years, Mike has been responsible for breaking the most important artists of this generation,” said Lipman in a statement. “His reputation, tenacity and strategic approach, make him a leader among his peers; and his track record and competitive spirit have made a tremendous impact to the overall success of our company.”
Added Horton, “Republic Records has always been forward thinking. I enjoy breaking acts more than anything. Monte and Avery Lipman give me the opportunity to introduce the world to new music. That drives me. They’re always striving for the best. It inspires the rest of the team to push the envelope. We’re always looking ahead together, and there’s nothing better.”
Horton joined the Republic promotion team in 1996. He previously worked at Capitol Records and Interscope.
