Executive Turntable: New Hires & Promotions at RCA, Crowd Surf, Genius & More

Lori Giamela and Kevin Valentini have been promoted to co-vice presidents of rhythm production at RCA Records and more.

Lori Giamela and Kevin Valentini have been promoted to co-vice presidents of rhythm production at RCA Records. Both Giamela and Valentini most recently served as senior directors for rhythm rroduction and will continue to report to Joe Riccitelli, co-president of RCA Records.

“There is nothing more satisfying than seeing two exceptional promotion executives grow into their potential,” said Riccitelli in a statement. “Lori and Kevin have shown the ability to strategize and execute No. 1 campaigns to their fullest. Their passion and commitment to RCA’s success is evident in everything they do.”

The pair have run the rhythm production department for the past two years, overseeing its rise to its current No. 1 chart share standing among all other labels for 2018. 

“I would like to thank Peter Edge, Joe Riccitelli, and John Fleckenstein for this incredible promotion,” said Giamela in a statement. “After almost 5 years at RCA, I could not be more thrilled to start this next chapter in my career at such a powerhouse label. Being involved with breaking artists such as G-Eazy, Khalid, Bryson Tiller and SZA have been some of the proudest moments in my career. I look forward to cultivating our new artists as well as developing and furthering our existing roster.”

Valentini, who has been key in the success of such artists as Miguel, Kid Ink and Tinashe, among others, added, “I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank Peter Edge, Joe Riccitelli, and John Fleckenstein for believing in their own and promoting from within. I look forward to continuing to work and represent the best artists in the industry here at RCA.”

Crowd Surf has added three members to its Nashville team. Brittany Finley joins as publicist and Michael Fogarty and Channing Wisz are marketing account managers.

Finley previously worked at Sweet Talk Publicity clients including Florida Georgia Line, Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Lane and more. Fogarty comes from Capitol Christian Music Group where he served as digital content coordinator. And Wisz, who was once an intern at Crowd Surf, joins the company with experience at RPM Entertainment and Miles High Productions.

Rebecca Siegel has joined Genius as their inaugural director of business and legal affairs. In her new role, Siegel will manage and oversee growing number of content, talent, production and distribution agreements, the media company’s IP portfolio and serve as a liaison with label and publisher partners.

Formerly, Siegel counseled music publishers, record labels, artists and new media companies on copyright, licensing and first amendment issues at Pryor Cashman LLP in the media & entertainment and intellectual property groups. 

Goetz Von Einem has been announced as peermusic’s new managing director GSA and senior vice president digital and European legal affairs. He previously worked at BMG as SVP business & legal affairs, international publishing where he oversaw worldwide business and legal matters. In his new role at peermusic, Von Einem will be in charge of operations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland.

“Goetz’s experience and talent will be an important addition to our European leadership team,” said Ralph Peer and Mary Megan Peer in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome him to peermusic.”

Gillian Ryan has joined UG Strategies as COO. She joins from TMWRK where held the general manager position and oversaw operations and financial management, as well as a staff of over 20 people and a roster of more than 25 artists.

Previously, she worked at Warner Music Group, Columbia Records and TVT Records, where she got her start in the music industry before her junior year at NYU.

The National Museum of African American Music has hired Dionne Lucas as director of marketing and communications. Previously, Lucas held marketing positions with Shared Vision and Tantus Manufacturing, Inc. She also worked for the Scandinavian Tobacco Group as a senior brand manager in Atlanta and spent 10 years with the Coca-Cola Company in numerous roles.

“This is a foundational year for the museum, and Dionne will be pivotal to our success,” museum CEO H. Beecher Hicks III said in a statement. “As director of Marketing and Communications, she will engage with music and historical networks on a local and national level, making sure that everyone who wants to be involved with the museum can be involved. She will be our champion as we acquire artifacts for the museum, hit major milestones and become more active in Nashville’s many thriving communities.”
