While the country prepares for what is sure to be one of the most bitterly antagonistic presidential elections in modern history, the reunion of one of the ’90s most influential rocks bands hasn’t strayed far from it’s initial premise — that anger is a gift.
Months after announcing the band’s first shows in a decade, Rage Against the Machine is taking their anti-establishment aesthetic to a wider audience, annoucing the launch of their global arena tour Monday (Feb. 10) to followup their apearance at Coachella in April.
Featuring lead singer Zach de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, the reunited Rage Against the Machine will head to the Oakland Arena to play their first show since 2011 as part of a seven-month run that runs through Sept. 12 in Vienna, Austria.
Joining Rage Against the Machine is incendiary rap duo Run the Jewels (Killer Mike and El-P) for all headline dates — excluding Chicago — in support of their highly-anticipated new album, RTJ4, out this spring.
Through ticketing, volunteering and band donations, Rage Against the Machine will be working with multiple charities and activist organizations throughout the tour. In addition, 100% of all proceeds from El Paso, Las Cruces and Phoenix will go to immigrant rights organizations.
Dates for the public service announcement tour are below. Tickets go on sale Thursday (Feb. 13) at 11 a.m. local time at ratm.com.
