Today’s (May 13) new Official Charts Company data also shows Drake‘s “One Dance” (Cash Money/ Republic/ Universal) single, featuring Wizkid & Kyla, starting a fifth week at No. 1.
The Radiohead album was released last Sunday (May 8), therefore missing two days of sales in the chart week, but finished with combined chart sales of 50,000. The band’s last U.K. No. 1 album was In Rainbows, in 2008; the first was OK Computer, in 1997.
British rapper Skepta, whose previous best album showing as a solo artist was the No. 19 peak of Doin’ It Again in 2011, easily outstripped that with a No. 2 debut for his fourth studio set, Konnichiwa (Boy Better Know).
Beyoncé‘s Lemonade (Columbia) fell 2-3 on the new chart and Drake’s Views (Universal Island) from the top to No. 4. Gregory Porter‘s Take Me To The Alley (Blue Note/Universal) arrived at No. 5, a career best in the U.K., where its predecessor Liquid Spirit was certified gold by trade body the BPI in October 2014. That album itself vaults 70-35 in its 86th chart week.
French electronic pioneer Jean Michel Jarre arrived at No. 8 with Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise (Columbia/Sony). He first reached the U.K. album top ten with Oxygene in 1977, and most recently with this record’s predecessor, Electronica 2: The Time Machine only last October.
There were also top 20 entries for James Blake‘s The Colour In Anything (Polydor/ Universal) at No. 13 and Andy Black, aka Black Veil Brides singer Andy Biersack, at No. 16 with The Shadow Side (Lava/Republic/Universal).
“One Dance” is now officially a platinum-certified single for Drake in the U.K., moving past the 600,000 combined sales threshold. Its fifth week at No. 1 was secured with another sturdy 123,500 in sales. “This Is What You Came For” (Columbia/Sony) by Calvin Harris and Rihanna kept its No. 2 entry position from last week and Justin Timberlake‘s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” (RCA/Sony) debuted at No. 3.
Sia‘s “Cheap Thrills” (Monkey Puzzle/RCA/Sony) and Mike Posner‘s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” (Universal Island) each moved down a place, at Nos. 4 and 5 respectively. Drake and Rihanna also have a new top 40 hit together, after the Views album track “Too Good” rose 41-23.
