Radio Company makes its Billboard chart debut, arriving at No. 5 on the Emerging Artists survey (dated Nov. 23).
The Austin, Texas-based duo’s debut LP, Vol. 1, opens at No. 18 on Top Rock Albums and No. 151 on the Billboard 200 with 6,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 5,000 were in traditional album sales, as the set also launches at No. 12 on the all-genre Top Album Sales chart.
Radio Company comprises Steve Carlson and actor/singer Jensen Ackles, the latter of whom stars as Dean Winchester on The CW’s Supernatural. He previously appeared in Smallville, Dark Angel and Days of Our Lives.
Meanwhile, NLE Choppa logs his ninth week atop Emerging Artists, powered by his single “Camelot,” his former top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit that drew 14.4 million U.S. streams in the latest tracking week.
The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, each week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard‘s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
Plus, Mexican singer-songwriter Carin León enters Emerging Artists at No. 46 on, as his breakout single “Me La Avente” rises 19-17 on Hot Latin Songs. It places at No. 13 on Regional Mexican Airplay and No. 26 on Latin Airplay (with 4.2 million in audience).
