Quincy Jones’ Iconic Career Chronicled On Eight-Album Vinyl Me, Please Anthology

Quincy Jones’ nearly seven-decade career is being saluted by Vinyl Me, Please (VMP). VMP Anthology: The Story of Quincy Jones celebrates the legendary music man’s multiple personas as a musician, artist, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer, including his work in film and television.

The package is the 12th release in VMP’s anthology series (Vinyl Me, Please (VMP), which has also honored the Grateful Dead, the Women of Motown, Stax Records, Herbie Hancock, Metal Blade Records and Philadelphia International Records, among others.

Limited to 1,000 pressings, VMP Anthology: The Story of Quincy Jones chronicles Jones’ multi–genre love affair with music, ranging from bebop and jazz to R&B/hip-hop and pop. It also encompasses collaborations with artists such as Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Michael Jackson. The package contains eight albums across 12 LPs, chosen by VMP and Jones.

Produced in color vinyl, the albums are housed in a commemorative box designed by Grammy-nominated artist and photographer Mathieu Bitton. The set is accompanied as well by a “Listening Notes” booklet written by Ashley Kahn and a four-episode podcast series that doubles as a guide to each album.

In a release announcing the anthology, Jones stated, “Asking me to pick my favorite album is like asking me to pick my favorite child. Impossible! But I’m excited to highlight some of the defining moments of my musical career with Vinyl Me, Please. It’s such a trip walking down memory lane and reflecting on the stories and long nights in the studio. Absolutely beautiful. I’ll never forget my beloved collaborators, and this box set wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of them. Hope y’awl enjoy!”

Added Courtney Catagnus, VMP’s senior director of business development & partnerships, “VMP has spent the past year collaborating closely with Quincy Jones to capture all the strains of his varied work over his illustrious career, including his adventurous work in R&B in the ’80s, his jazz work in the ’50s and ’60s, and masterpieces in film scoring and arrangement. We are all incredibly proud to share this anthology with the world and can’t think of an artist more worthy of the VMP Anthology treatment.”
