The Roots member and musical multi-hyphenate Questlove will join a keynote conversation at ASCAP’s 2019 “I Create Music” EXPO with the organization’s chairman of the board and president Paul Williams.
The drummer, DJ, producer and author behind Creative Quest will also be recognized with the ASCAP Creative Voice Award, presented to members of the organization whose “significant career achievements are equally informed by their creative spirit and by their contributions to the role that a creator can play in the community,” the organization announced today (April 12).
More EXPO panelists newly added to the growing list include This Is Us composer Siddhartha Khosla, who joined the ASCAP family last month, electronic producer TOKiMONSTA, hit songwriter Priscilla Renea (Rihanna, Fifth Harmony) and Oscar- and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop.
Plus, a new panel on “The Rise of Emo Rap” will rally Emo Nite LA’s Morgan Freed, producer Charlie Shuffler and artists Lil Aaron and Kreayshawn, while a “Nashville Goes Global” panel will explore Music City’s evolution with Ashley Gorley, Tommee Profitt, Chris Farren, Steven Battey and Dave Kuncio. The popular Publishing 101 panel will also return to EXPO, hosted by industry execs including Sue Drew (Kobalt), Jake Fain (Sony), Luke McGrellis (UMPG) and Monti Olson (BMG), while composer Bear McCreary will offer feedback to EXPO attendees on their original scores in a new masterclass.
The ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO is slated for May 2 through 4 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles.
