Publishing Briefs: Sony/ATV Signs Jonas Blue, Anthem & RED Creative Extend Adam Hambrick’s Deal and More

DJ, songwriter, artist and record producer Jonas Blue has been signed to a worldwide futures deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, the company announced Tuesday (Sept. 24).

Blue has enjoyed a number of chart hits internationally, including “Perfect Strangers,” “Mama,” “Rise” and a reworking of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.” Five of his songs have hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart; he has also been nominated for five BRIT Awards and runs his own record label, Blue Future.

“We are over the moon to welcome Jonas Blue to the Sony/ATV family, having been fans for many years,” said Sony/ATV UK president and co-managing director David Ventura in a statement. “His talent and track record is nothing but astonishing and he has proven himself to be one of the world’s most accomplished songwriters. Everyone is delighted to become a part of his continuing adventure and his opportunities for the future are incredibly exciting!”



Singer-songwriter Adam Hambrick has extended his worldwide publishing deal with Anthem Entertainment and RED Creative Group, it was announced Sept. 20. Under the new deal, Anthem will handle global co-publishing for Hambrick’s future copyrights.

“Adam not only has one of the most gifted voices in music, but his fresh melodic approach mixed with vivid lyrics truly make him one of the best,” said RED Creative Group president Jeremy Stover in a statement. “Working with Adam has been an amazing experience and I look forward to what the future holds.”

Hambrick has written songs for artists including Miranda LambertJustin MooreEli Young Band and Dan + Shay. He released his debut single “Rockin’ All Night Long” last fall and is currently working on an album.



Reservoir and Benelux sub-publishing partner CTM Publishing have co-signed songwriter-producer Thom Bridges to a worldwide publishing deal, it was announced Tuesday (Sept. 24). The deal will see the companies working together on all creative and administrative aspects of Bridges’ songwriting career, including his forthcoming artist project with Universal Music Germany.

“I am very proud of how Thom has developed as a successful writer and producer under the wings of CTM in the last five years,” said CTM Publishing managing director Jitze de Raaff, who began working with Bridges in 2014. “Now it’s time for the next step in his career and I couldn’t be happier to be doing this together with our longtime partner Reservoir.”

Bridges is best known for his work with Dutch DJ-producer Yellow Claw, with whom he has collaborated on four albums including Blood For Mercy, which topped Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart in 2015. His most recent single with Yellow Claw is “Let’s Get Married” featuring Offset and Era Istrefi.



Boutique publisher Raleigh Music has signed a deal to represent the catalog of late songwriter Hugo Peretti, the company announced Wednesday (Sept. 18). Peretti’s catalog includes the Tokens’ Billboard No. 1 hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and music from the 1968 Broadway musical Maggie Flynn.

“Raleigh Music’s marketing prowess, particularly in the area of synch licensing is what really sets them apart, and I look forward to continuing our collaboration on future projects,” said Peretti’s grandson in a statement.

Alongside Luigi Creatore, Peretti formed the successful songwriting team Hugo & Luigi in the mid 1950s. The duo also wrote songs for artists including Valerie Carr and produced hits for singer Jimmie Rodgers, including “Honeycomb” and “Kisses Sweeter Than Wine.” With George David Weiss the two also co-wrote “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which became a major hit for Elvis Presley in 1962.



On Thursday (Sept. 26), Concord Music Publishing announced a global publishing deal with Jordan “DJ Swivel” Young and his Waves With Words publishing company. The new deal covers DJ Swivel’s full catalog and future works, as well as the works of songwriters signed to Waves With Words.

DJ Swivel has written a string of hits for K-Pop superstars BTS including “Heartbeat,” “Love Maze” and “Euphoria,” collaborating on their last three albums. Waves With Words has also signed songwriter and BTS collaborator Candace Sosa, and with Concord’s support will continue to develop more writers, producers and artists.

“I’m excited to partner with Concord as I move into the next phase of my writing career and to help grow the Waves With Words publishing brand,” said DJ Swivel. “Concord has consistently been a leader in the independent music and publishing space, which aligns perfectly with my philosophy.”
