Publishing Briefs: The Linda Lindas Link With WCM; Position Signs ‘Numb Little Bug’ Writer

This week in publishing news: Dru "Falconry" DeCaro inks deal with Position Music, James Bourne signs to Warner Chappell U.K. and more

The Linda Lindas have signed a global publishing administration deal with Warner Chappell. One of Billboard’s picks for 21 Under 21 this year, the all-girl punk troupe became instant stars in May 2021 with their song “Racist, Sexist Boy.” Greg Sowders, svp a&r and catalog for WCM calls The Linda Lindas “one of the most exciting, new, and culturally relevant artists around today” and they give him “hope for the future of true alternative music.”


Dru “Falconry” DeCaro has signed a new global publishing agreement with Position Music. Led by President and CEO Tyler Bacon, Position Music is an independent publishing, record label and management firm home to other talents like Judah & the Lion, Welshly Arms, ¿Téo?, Kid Bloom, and more. DeCaro’s addition to the roster is announced just as DeCaro tops the Hot A/C Radio charts for co-penning Em Beihold’s “Numb Little Bug.” Other credits for DeCaro include Miguel, Machine Gun Kelly, Khalid, Pop Smoke, Dua Lipa and more. “The people are what’s most important to me,” he says of his new deal with Position. “Music is about people. All of my successes to date are the result of working with people I love. Position Music has a couple people like that running around here already, that’s priority number one. The music part is easy.”

Singer-songwriter James Bourne has signed with Warner Chappell Music U.K. The deal covers his back catalog and future works, including past songs from his popular band Busted and co-writers with the Jonas Brothers, Backstreet Boys, The Vamps, McFly and more. In a statement about the new deal, Bourne says he is “beyond excited to begin a new chapter with Warner Chappell! My songwriting over the last 20 years has taken me on the most amazing journey. I still feel like I have a lot more to offer as a songwriter and an artist. Onwards!”

Bucks Music Group has signed Marvee Woods to a worldwide publishing deal. Woods has worked as a songwriter for decades, penning songs for Diana Ross, Beverly Knight, Judge Jules and more. Bucks Music Group Director a&r Sarah Liversedge Platz says of the signing, “Marvee is an extremely talented songwriter who has consistently delivered hits for artists in a number of territories during a career that has spanned decades. There’s much more to come from Marvee. He remains as busy as ever and we’re delighted to welcome him to Bucks.”

Big Machine Music has signed Anna Vaus, a rising singer-songwriter, to an exclusive publishing deal. Raised in Southern California and now based in Nashville, Vaus has written hits for artists like Carly Pearce, Abby Anderson, and more. “We have admired Anna’s unique songwriting from afar for years and are so excited for the opportunity to work together directly,” said BMM general manager Mike Molinar.

ROBA Music Publishing and AP Music Royalties Fund has announced that the duo will take over the works of popular German music publisher GERIG. Founded in 1946, the GERIG catalog contains approximately 30,000 songs and thousands of master recordings, including evergreen Oktoberfest and German carnival and party songs as well as contemporary German hits.

Warner Chappell Music has signed a singer-songwriter Sydney Mack to a global publishing deal. A Nashville-based country talent, who was featured on American Idol season 14 and NashNext Top 10, she has opened for country artists like Miranda Lambert, Florida Georgia Line, Brett Eldredge, Charlie Daniels, and George Jones.
