P!nk Scores Third No. 1 Album on UK Charts, Stormzy Beats Out Taylor Swift on Singles Tally
P!nk is back at No. 1 on the UK charts with "Hurts 2B Human" and Swift lands at No. 3 on the singles chart with "ME!" as Stormzy hits No. 1 on the singles chart for the first time with "Vossi Bop."
P!nk scores her third U.K. No. 1 album as Hurts 2B Human (RCA/Sony) goes straight to the top this week. Stormzy has his first chart-topping single in the territory with “Vossi Bop” (Merky), which outsells both Lil Nas X and Taylor Swift.
The Pink album finishes the week 22,000 combined units ahead of the No. 2 debut of Catfish & the Bottlemen‘s “The Balance” (Island/Universal). The Welsh band’s last set The Ride entered at No. 1 in June 2016. Pink previously topped the U.K. bestsellers with Funhouse in 2008 and her last release Beautiful Trauma in 2017.
Billie Eilish falls 1-3 with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Interscope/Universal), as the soundtrack of The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner Music) dips 2-4. Marina’s new release Love + Fear (Atlantic/Warner Music) opens at No. 5; this follows three top ten albums as Marina & the Diamonds, of which 2012’s Electra Heart went to No. 1.
Two notable achievements by BMG artists round out the album ten. Actor-musician Kiefer Sutherland making his first-ever U.K. chart appearance at No. 9 with Reckless & Me and the Cranberries hitting the top 10 for the first time in 20 years with In The End, at No. 10. Their last such success was with Bury The Hatchet in 1999; the new album follows the death in January 2018 of lead singer Dolores O’Riordan.
The Stormzy single boasts combined units of 94,000, which is second only to the 126,000 Ariana Grande‘s “7 Rings” for first-week figures in 2019. “Vossi Bop” also records streams of 12.7 million, the biggest ever week for a rapper, according to the Official Charts Company. That’s more than two million ahead of Drake‘s previous record-holder, “In My Feelings.”
Lil Nas X falls to No. 2 after a two-week reign with “Old Town Road” (Lil Nas X/Sony), while Swift’s single featuring Brendon Urie, “ME!” (EMI/Universal), arrives at No. 3 to become her ninth U.K. top ten hit. Lewis Capaldi‘s “Someone You Loved” (EMI/Universal) declines 3-4 and “Piece Of Your Heart” (Polydor/Universal), by Meduza featuring Goodboyz, 2-5. Dave’s “Location” (Dave Neighbourhood) improves 11-10.
