Papa Roach Notches Eighth Mainstream Rock Airplay No. 1 With ‘No Apologies’

The band first reached the ranking in 2000 and first led in 2009.

Papa Roach claims its eighth No. 1 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, as “No Apologies” ascends to the top of the list dated Sept. 24.

The band first reached Mainstream Rock Airplay in 2000 with the No. 4-peaking “Last Resort,” its first of 24 top 10s. “Lifeline” became the group’s first No. 1 in 2009. The Jacoby Shaddix-led act most recently led with “Kill the Noise,” for four weeks in late 2021.

Concurrently, “No Apologies” debuts at No. 40 on Alternative Airplay. Papa Roach has tallied seven top 10s in the chart, including the No. 1 “Last Resort.”

On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, “No Apologies” breaks into the top 10, jumping 11-8 with 3.1 million audience impressions, up 14%, according to Luminate. It’s Papa Roach’s sixth top 10 on the ranking (which began in 2009); the group has hit a No. 4 best with “Noise.”

“No Apologies” hit No. 14 on the multi-metric Hot Hard Rock Songs list earlier in September (it ascends 17-15 on the latest survey). In addition to its radio airplay, the song earned 473,000 official U.S. streams in the week ending Sept. 15.

The track is the fourth single from Ego Trip, Papa Roach’s 11th studio album, which debuted and peaked at No. 6 on Top Hard Rock Albums in April and has earned 62,000 equivalent album units to date.
