Ovy on the Drums Inks New Partnership With Warner Music Latina

The Colombian producer topped Billboard's Latin Producers chart for 17 weeks.

Ovy on the Drums has signed a new partnership with Warner Music Latina, Billboard can exclusively report. Per the press release, the partnership will take his music career to “a higher level of expansion.”

“Warner has always been family to me and now, we will create my first album together, which will be one in which I want to show who Ovy on the Drums is and break all musical schemes,” the Colombian artist-producer said in a statement.

Born Daniel Echavarria Oviedo in Medellin, Ovy on the Drums kicked off his career as a local DJ in Colombia before working with reggaeton artists such as Andy Rivera and Kevin Roldan, and ultimately became Karol G’s longtime producer. Throughout his career, he’s also worked with Enrique Iglesias, Myke Towers, Gloria Trevi, and Sebastian Yatra, to name a few.

On the Billboard charts, he reached No. 1 on the Latin Producers chart for 17 consecutive weeks, and No. 1 on Latin Songwriters for two weeks on the charts dated May 14. He also landed at No. 3 on the Hot 100 Producers chart and No. 22 on the Hot 100 Songwriters chart.

As a producer, he has a total of 32 entries on the Hot Latin Songs, including the No. 1 bangers “Tusa” (Karol G and Nicki Minaj), which topped the chart for four weeks, Becky G and Karol G’s unapologetic “Mamiii,” and Karol’s recent solo hit “Provenza.” This week, Blessd, Justin Quiles, and Lenny Tavarez’s “Medallo,” which he also produced, hit No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart (dated May 21).

“I have had the pleasure of watching Ovy grow over the years, to this day when he’s topping the Latin producer and songwriter charts worldwide,” said Alejandro Duque, president, Warner Music Latin America, in a statement. “The next step is his artistic career, and we are very excited to be partners in this new phase.”

Under the new partnership, according to the release, Ovy on the Drums will continue to work on new music “that promises to reach different masses around the world as part of his global conquest.”
