The Orchard Offers New Integrated Publishing Solution Through Sony/ATV Partnership: Exclusive

For years, Sony Corp.’s ongoing “One Sony” initiative has focused on fostering collaboration among the company’s global network of businesses in recorded music, film and tech. That effort continues today (Oct. 6) as Sony Music Entertainment-owned distribution company The Orchard announces a new partnership with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

Under the pact, Sony/ATV will handle publishing administration — including all aspects of global song representation and royalty collection — for any of The Orchard’s distributed artists and labels which decide to opt in, giving those clients access to the publishing giant’s scale, infrastructure and royalty rates. Founded in New York City in 1997 and fully acquired by Sony in 2015, The Orchard has counted Jorja Smith, T-Pain, 21 Savage and Ozuna among its clients, while Sony/ATV represents such icons as Bob Dylan, The BeatlesBeyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Drake and Lady Gaga.

“We are happy to share our extensive music publishing network and expertise with The Orchard in this new venture,” Sony/ATV chairman/CEO Jon Platt said. “The Sony/ATV family believes in the importance of creative development and professional support, so we are uniquely positioned to provide world-class service to more of The Orchard’s talented community of songwriters.”


The Orchard acts Harry Nach, Kiddtetoon, G Herbo and Summer Salt, along with indie label Unique Leader Records, are among the first to take advantage of the partnership, which is now open to all of The Orchard’s artist and label clients. The new partnership marks the latest expansion for The Orchard, which operates in more than 45 markets worldwide and offers a range of services including marketing, sync licensing, data analysis, rights management and more in addition to digital and physical distribution.

Added Nach, a Chilean rapper making headway in the Latin trap scene: “As an artist, the best feeling is knowing you have the ability to freely create.
