OneRepublic leads Billboard & Clio’s Top TV Commercials chart, powered by Shazam, for July, with their new single “Connection,” thanks to the song’s appearance in Jeep’s “2018 Summer of Jeep: Sold Out” commercial.
Using tagging data from Shazam, as well as sales and streaming information tracked by Nielsen Music, Billboard partners with Clio Music each month to present a chart ranking the top songs in commercials. Rankings exclude any song that has recently charted within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 or top 10 on a genre chart.
The funky new track, which the group released on June 26, leads all songs with 19,000 Shazam tags, 32,000 downloads sold and 10.8 million U.S. streams, according to Nielsen Music.
The tune debuted and peaked at no. 23 on the Digital Song Sales chart (dated July 14).
Below OneRepublic, The Black Eyed Peas’ 2003 hit “Let’s Get it Started” debuts at No. 4 after its appearance in Walmart’s “Let’s Get It Started” ad.
The song, which reached No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, logged 15,000 Shazam tags, 6,000 downloads sold and 1.8 million U.S. streams in July.
Finally, Queen’s classic hit “Don’t Stop Me Now” debuts at No. 7, thanks to its appearance in L’Oreal’s “Yummy Shades” commercial.
The track reached No. 86 in 1979 and earned 1,000 Shazam tags, 4,000 downloads sold and 7.2 million U.S. streams.
