Of Mice & Men have canceled the remaining dates of their European tour to focus on frontman Austin Carlile’s health.
The announcement comes after the band had to cut their set short at their Oct. 8 show in Portsmouth, U.K. “We attempted to play the show in Cardiff the following night, but it became increasingly obvious that we were not able to continue and that we need to focus on Austin’s health,” the band said in a statement on their Facebook page. “As much as we wish we could complete the remaining dates of this tour we know that we would be doing a disservice to all of our loyal fans, as well as ourselves, performing under the current circumstances.”
Comments on the post claim the singer wasn’t “his usual cheery self” at the gig, while another commenter claimed he was doubled over onstage at one point.
This isn’t the first time the band has canceled tour dates due to Carlile’s health: In June 2015, the band canceled two shows after he was hospitalized before a major heart surgery. “The reality is that we feel the best thing to do right now is go home, get Austin the appropriate medical attention & regroup before we head back out on the road again,” the statement continued.
Carlile suffers from a rare connective tissue disorder called Marfan syndrome.
Refunds are available at the point of purchase for the canceled shows. The tour supported their latest album, Cold World.
