Eight months after releasing his debut solo single “This Town,” Niall Horan is back with his follow-up single, “Slow Hands,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart after its release Thursday morning (May 4). The Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart measures the real-time acceleration of conversation around artists and their music on Twitter.
“Slow Hands” first hit the Trending 140 chart around 10:30 a.m. ET Thursday after the song was released (on multiple streaming services). The audio clip on YouTube has surged to 400,000 global views since its posting.
Horan’s first single “This Town” also topped the Trending 140 chart after its release on Sept. 29 and went on to reach No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Jan. 14.
The song caps a big week for members of One Direction. Harry Styles’ new song “Sweet Creature” also topped the Trending 140 after its release on Tuesday (May 2), while Migos teased an upcoming collaboration with 1D’s Liam Payne Monday (May 1).
