NBCUniversal Telemundo Announces New Leadership Structure, Departure of President Luis Silberwasser

Luis Silberwasser, who for the past four years served as president, Telemundo Networks, will depart the company. Silberwasser will continue in his role through October 1 to assist in the company’s transition.

Silberwasser’s departure comes amidst a major executive restructuring at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, which also announced today new leadership responsibilities of four key executives.

Beau Ferrari has been named EVP of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, overseeing operations, financial performance and corporate strategy. Monica Gil will become EVP and Chief Marketing Officer. Peter Blacker, who has long overseen the company’s digital business, will step into the newly created role of EVP, revenue strategy and innovation. And Ronald Day will step in as EVP entertainment for Telemundo Networks, responsible for programming, talent and promotions of primetime, Daytime and specials for Telemundo and Universo Networks.

All four executives will report directly to Cesar Conde, Chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and NBCUniversal International Group.

“These industry veterans will continue to power Telemundo’s spectacular rise during this momentous time for Hispanic media, as Latinos reshape the way Americans think, act and buy,” said Conde in a press release. “Each of the leaders named today has advanced our clear mission for change, as we continue to transform our business for the future.”

Silberwasser, who will stay in is role through October 1 to assist in the company’s transition, was a key in this change, changing the network’s programming strategy and positioning. Cisco Suarez, who earlier this year was named EVP of Primetime Realities and Specials for Telemundo, will continue to report to Silberwasser until then.

Silberwasser will embark on “new content-making ventures.”
