Jampol Artist Management, Inc (JAM, Inc) has signed a deal to manage Muddy Waters‘ estate.
The new agreement between the late musician’s estate and JAM, brings the management company its first blues artist. Waters (née McKinley Morganfield) will join JAM’s long list of legend cliental including The Doors, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Jim Morrison, Rick James and Kurt Cobain.
“I am so excited that our Estate is partnering with JAM Inc.,” said Joseph Morganfield, Waters’ son. “I appreciate all the love my father’s fans are showing the family. I am so happy that after all these years my dad’s music still has such an impact. My father always told us to ‘Keep the Blues Alive’ and that is what our family along with countless other families and blues fans are doing. I know my father would be proud.”
Waters — who died in 1983 at the age of 70 — remains one of the most influential musicians of his time, influencing the sounds and styles of the rock and R&B generations to come. Waters’s music made waves on the Chicago blues seen and set a tone for the birth of Rock and Roll. In 1950, the iconic musician’s “Rollin’ Stone” would aide in the name of The Rolling Stones. JAM, Inc. says the new partnership will allow for Waters’ legacy to gain a new audience with a new generation.
“Muddy will be remembered as one of the founding fathers of the genre of music called the blues, one of the greatest guitarists of his generation and an icon in history who helped to shape and define American culture through his music,” said JAM, Inc. in a statement.
