Spain’s Monegros Desert Festival Announces 2020 Return After Five Year Hiatus

Monegros Desert Festival, the Spanish electronic music event, has today (Sept. 19) announced that it will return in 2020 after a five year hiatus.

Monegros Desert Festival, the Spanish electronic music event, has today (Sept. 19) announced that it will return in 2020 after a five year hiatus. The next incarnation of the festival happens on Aug. 1, 2020 in Fraga, near the Monegros desert of northeastern Spain.

The 2020 event will mark the 21st edition of Monegros since 1994, with the party designd to honor the fabled raves of the 1980s and 90s. The festival is owned by brother and sister Juan and Cruz Arnau, also the founders and owners of Elrow, the Barcelona-born party now happening worldwide.

 “We are not back to do the same,” Juan Arnau is quoted in a press release on Monegros. “We want to produce the biggest festival of our history after 20 years.”

Past lineups have included a who’s who of dance music including Paul Kalkbrenner, Justice, Underworld, Richie Hawtin and many, many more. The event typically draws roughly 45,000 attendees.
