What would you do if you recently made a couple billion bucks? If you’re Swedish video game developer Markus Persson, you probably purchase a fully furnished 23,000-square-foot mansion in Beverly Hills — one that was reportedly eyed by Beyonce and Jay Z — for $70 million, of course!
In September, the Minecraft creator sold his company Mojang to Microsoft for a cool $2.5 billion. Even with that kind of krona laying around he was able to knock $15 million off the home’s asking price. According to the realtor, it is the most expensive house to ever be sold in Beverly Hills.
TMZ reports that Jay and Bey visited the mansion several times and made an offer… one that the realtor obviously refused. So, what did Persson get for that sweet, sweet Microsoft cash?
- Eight bedrooms
- 15 bathrooms, each with $5,600-toilets
- Automated 54-foot curved glass door that opens to a zero edge (infinity) pool
- 18-seat movie theater
- Vodka and tequila bars
- 10 Bentley Motors-designed chairs worth $56,000 a pop
- Panoramic views of oceans and stuff
- A wall of fricking onyx
- And in a recent (#humblebrag-style) tweet, Persson looks to now own a gigantic display of bulk candy.

The John Aaroe Group handled the sale, with realtor Katia De Los Reyes writing on the company blog that, “Marcus fell in love with the house, its sleek contemporary design and its spectacular panoramic views that sweep from downtown LA to the Pacific Ocean. The fact that the house also was completely furnished in such great style was another major selling point for him.”
