Puerto Rican urban artist Miky Woodz debuts at No. 6 on the Top Latin Albums chart dated June 9, with his first entry, El OG. According to Nielsen Music, the set opens with 3,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 31. Of that sum, traditional album sales comprised 1,000, while streaming equivalent album units equaled a little more than a 1,000 units.
Woodz’s sophomore album — released via Gold 2Latin/SoldOut/GLAD Empire on May 25 — also launches in the top five of the Latin Albums Sales at No. 3, besting his pre-OG debut, Before Famous as it opened at No. 20 (Aug. 12, 2017). Concurrently, Woodz makes his first Latin Rhythm Albums visit as the new release lands at No. 5.
One EL OG track has previously visited the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, as “Estamos Clear” with Bad Bunny peaked at No. 22 (May. 5-dated tally).
MARIACHI HERENCIA NOTCHES FIRST TOP FIVE: Meanwhile, on Regional Mexican Albums, Mariachi Herencia de Mexico, an ensemble of students from Chicago, arrives in the top five. The group’s debut effort, Herencia de La Tierra Mia, starts at No. 5 with 1,000 equivalent album units earned. Most of that sum was driven by traditional album sales. The title also launches at No. 2 on Latin Album Sales and at No. 22 on Top Latin Albums.
ABRAHAM MATEO HITS TOP 10: Spanish singer-songwriter Abraham Mateo picks up his first Latin Airplay top 10 with “Se Acabó el Amor,” featuring Yandel and Jennifer Lopez, as the song vaults 16-7. The song collected 11 million audience impressions (up 34 percent) in the week ending June 3. It earns Yandel his fourteenth top 10, and Lopez her eigth.
Elsewhere, on the Hot Latin Songs Chart, which blends airplay, sales and streams, “Se Acabó” ascends 32-27 in its fourth week despite a decline in sales and streams. Mateo previously visited the top 25 at the beginning of the year when “Loco Enamorado” featuring Farruko and Christian Nodal peaked at No. 22 (Jan. 13).
