Migos Break Their Own Record for Most Simultaneous Hits on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart
As Migos' 'Culture II' debuts, the trio breaks its own record for most songs charted on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in one week and hits third place overall.
As Migos‘ Culture II opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Feb. 10), the set duplicates the feat on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums, kicking off with 199,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Feb. 1, according to Nielsen Music.
Culture II, as with many recent hip-hop albums, generated an immense streaming reaction. The album pulled 150,000 units of its debut sum from on-demand audio streams, equating to 225.6 million plays of Culture II songs. The sum is the largest one-week streaming figure for an album since Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. arrived in April 2017 (with 340.6 million U.S. streams).
The streaming totals spark 15 of Culture II‘s 24 tracks to reach the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, breaking Migos’ own mark for the most concurrently charting titles by a duo or group. The trio posted a prior-best 12 songs on the Feb. 18, 2017, chart, the week that its prequel album, Culture, debuted on Billboard‘s charts.

Among all acts, Migos become only the third act (and first group), after Drake and The Weeknd, to place at least 15 titles on the chart in the same week. Drake has claimed at least 15 spaces on the list on 16 different occasions, maxing out at an overall-record 24 spots on April 8, 2017, when his More Life debuted. The Weeknd nabbed a high of 18 positions on both the Dec. 17 and Dec. 24-dated charts in the wake of his Starboy album’s arrival.
Even more good news for Migos: As previously reported, the rap trio ties The Beatles with 14 simultaneously charting songs, the most ever by a group, on the Feb. 10-dated all-genre Billboard Hot 100. The Beatles had held the group mark all to themselves for nearly 54 years until Migos matched them with their own fab 14.
