Midem announced Thursday (May 16) CEO and co-founder of Lionfish Entertainment Rebeca León and Artist Group International (USA) president Marsha Vlasic have been added as keynote speakers for its 53rd conference.
The two global leaders join previously announced Sylvia Rhone, Dina LaPolt and Dina Simms as speakers of the event, which will take place June 4 through 7 in Cannes, France.
León manages a roster of Latin superstars including Juanes, Rosalía and J. Balvin. One of few female managers in the industry, León — who is also a board member for She Is The Music and a part of The Recording Academy’s diversity and inclusion task force — will focus her keynote on female empowerment in the music business.
“I’m so honored to have been chosen by Midem to speak at their incredible conference and to be able to use this as a platform to talk about female empowerment. I want girls to know how to talk about money, power and how to get a seat at the table.”
Vlasic possesses over 30 years of industry experience, and currently represents artists like Neil Young, Elvis Costello, Cage the Elephant and PJ Harvey. In her keynote, Vlasic will share her perspective on the evolution of the music landscape, drawing on her experiences as a leader of the live industry.
Both León and Vlasic were included on this year’s Billboard Power 100 and last year’s Women in Music, the latter which celebrates the most powerful female executives in the business.
“We are so honored to welcome both Rebeca and Marsha, two leading executives shaking up the way business is done and pushing boundaries for the artists and talent they work with,” said Midem director Alexandre Deniot in a statement. “They both represent the fundamental evolutions of today’s music industry: Rebeca by bringing Latin music across new frontiers and creating original content for Latin fans, and Marsha as a veteran of the industry, an essential visionary and key player in the live business.”
