Michelle Obama Bringing Her Fall Book Tour to US Arenas

The former first lady will kick off the 10-city U.S. tour in her hometown of Chicago on Nov. 13.

Live Nation and the Crown Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House, have announced dates for Michelle Obama’s fall book tour. The former first lady will kick off the 10-city U.S. tour in her hometown of Chicago on Nov. 13.

Obama will hit major markets across the country including Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Philadelphia and Detroit in support of her memoir, Becoming, which is set to be released on Nov. 13.

“I’ve spent the last year and a half reflecting on my story as deeply and honestly as I could, and now I’m thrilled to travel the country and do the same with readers this fall,” Obama said about her upcoming tour in a release. “I hope that this tour will inspire others to reflect upon and share their own stories — all the joys and sorrows, all the scars and renewals — so that together, we can better recognize that each of us, in our own way, is in a constant process of becoming.”

Attendees will be treated with intimate and honest conversations between the former first lady and a selection of to-be-announced moderators. Becoming: An Intimate Conversation with Michelle Obama will feature her reflections on the extraordinary stories shared in the wide-ranging chapters of her new book.

In a video released on her social media channels, Obama said of the book, “It is totally and utterly me. So I am also a little frightened because it is so candid and honest and open. But I can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Throughout the book and for her live audience, Obama will share the stories that have shaped her from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive, as well as discussing the eight years she spent in the White House. Without an example to follow, Obama will detail her role as the first African American first lady and how she used her position for inclusively and the empowerment of women and girls.

“We are honored to be part of these special events with former First Lady Michelle Obama,” said Tara Traub, senior vice president of Live Nation Touring, in a release. “Hearing her share her story in person will be a memorable life experience for attendees of the Becoming tour and one that will help encourage people to find their own voice and pursue their dreams for a better future — for themselves, their families, and their communities.”
