Three months after Michael Martin revealed his departure as ASCAP Nashville vp, the music executive has announced his new publishing company. Endurance Music Group has officially launched today (Sept. 16), with songwriters Scooter Carusoe (Darius Rucker’s “For the First Time,” Kenny Chesney’s “Anything But Mine”) and Clint Lagerberg (Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” Rascal Flatts’ “Here Comes Goodbye”) joining its roster. Additionally, emerging songwriter-artists Jake Rose and Ryan Plappert will also be represented by Endurance.
Martin joins Endurance as president while Mark Ahlberg will serve as senior vp and Josh Saxe as senior creative director. Raven co-founder Jeremy Tucker will act as Endurance’s chairman.
“I am absolutely thrilled to make my return to music publishing by helping to launch Endurance Music Group,” Martin said in a statement. “Jeremy is an incredible partner who truly understands the needs of a modern publishing house, and we have an amazing team in place to take care of our talented songwriters and the catalogs we represent. Here’s to the journey!”
Tucker added, “Michael’s passion, creativity and experience speak volumes. We are extremely excited to partner with Michael and the rest of the Endurance team, and believe their strategic vision will deliver results not just for Raven, but most importantly, for our songwriters.”
In addition to signing Carusoe and Lagerberg, Endurance represents the catalogs of songwriters Kevin Kadish (Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” Morgan Wallen’s “Whiskey Glasses”), Ross Copperman (Chesney’s “Tip of My Tongue, Brett Eldredge’s “Love Someone”), Hillary Lindsey (Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color”), Extreme Writers Group (George Strait’s “I Saw God Today,” Heartland’s “I Loved Her First”), and Matt Jenkins (Florida Georgia Line’s “Confession,” Urban’s “Cop Car”).
Martin, recognized in Billboard’s 2019 Country Power Players list, exited ASCAP Nashville on June 14 where he served as vp at the company four years. Martin jointly led ASCAP’s creative staff alongside LeAnn Phelan prior to his promotion as vp. He joined ASCAP five years beforehand from Extreme Writers Group (EWG), a publishing and content development firm which he co-founded in 2000 with Jason Houser.
