Meghan Trainor & Seth MacFarlane’s ‘White Christmas’ Glistens at No. 1 on Adult Contemporary Chart

Meghan Trainor‘s “White Christmas,” featuring Seth MacFarlane, jingles all the way to No. 1 (from No. 6) on Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart (dated Dec. 12).

The cover gifts Trainor her second AC No. 1, after she led as featured on Brett Eldredge’s “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” for a week in the 2016-17 holiday season. (Her other charted AC holiday hit, original composition “I’ll Be Home,” rose to No. 5 in 2014-15.)

MacFarlane, the creator of the Fox TV series Family Guy and The Orville, and writer, director and star of the films Ted and Ted 2, among others, scores his first AC No. 1 and first leader on any Billboard airplay chart. (He previously topped Jazz Albums, Traditional Jazz Albums and Heatseekers Albums.)

The carol is from A Very Trainor Christmas, which hit No. 7 on Billboard‘s Top Holiday Albums chart in November.

The iconic Irving Berlin composition previously reached a No. 2 AC high, thanks to a virtual collaboration version by Michael Bublé and Bing Crosby in 2012. Crosby’s classic original was released in 1942 and is, according to Guinness World Records, the best-selling song of all-time.

Trainor and MacFarlane’s “White Christmas” is additionally the 25th holiday No. 1 on the AC chart since 2000, around the time that a majority of stations in the format began playing seasonal songs 24/7 between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year.
