On the latest Billboard 200 chart (dated Aug. 15), Jill Scott celebrated her second No. 1 album as Woman bowed atop the list. The set moved 62,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 30, according to Nielsen Music.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the Aug. 15 chart:
— Maroon 5, V – No. 18: The group’s V album surpassed 1 million copies sold in the week ending July 30, as the set moved another 6,000 (bringing its total just over the million mark). V was released on Sept. 2, 2014, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking the bands second chart-topping album. The set has spawned three top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Maps” (No. 6 peak on Aug. 9, 2014), “Animals” (No. 3; Nov. 11, 2014) and “Sugar” (No. 2; March 28, 2015). The album was reissued on May 15, adding the new single “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt…” That track peaked at No. 23 on the Hot 100 on June 27.

On the latest Billboard 200 chart, V slips 16-18 in its 48th week on the list.
V is Maroon 5’s fifth album to sell a million copies — and now all five of their studio albums have reached the milestone. Their biggest selling effort remains their 2002 debut, Songs About Jane, which has sold 5.1 million. In total, Maroon 5 has sold 12.9 million albums in the U.S.
— Joe Satriani, Shockwave Supernova – No. 46: The guitarist collects his 16th charting album with the arrival of Shockwave Supernova at No. 46 (10,000 units overall; just under 10,000 sold in pure album sales). On the Hard Rock Albums chart, the new effort bows at No. 3.
— Gaelic Storm, Matching Sweaters – No. 61: The Celtic band notches its highest charting album yet, as Matching Sweaters starts at No. 61 (9,000 units, nearly all from album sales). They previously peaked at No. 73, twice, with 2010’s Cabbage and 2012’s Chicken Boxer. On the World Albums chart, the band earns its sixth No. 1 (all consecutive) with Matching Sweaters’ chart-topping arrival. Gaelic Storm has the fifth-most No. 1s in the 25-year history of the chart, behind Celtic Thunder (12), Celtic Woman (10), Gipsy Kings (eight) and The Chieftains (seven).
The World Albums chart tallies the top selling world music albums of the week. World music is any native music of foreign countries. The chart can include titles that feature Cuban, Celtic, Korean and South American music, among other genres, as well as Hawaiian music.

— Lana Del Rey, Born To Die – No. 54: As the singer prepares for the release of her forthcoming album, Honeymoon, her major label full-length debut set Born To Die rises up the chart. Born climbs 82-54 with the largest unit gain on the list (up by almost 3,000). A release date for Honeymoon has yet to be announced, but Del Rey will release a new single from the set, titled “High By the Beach,” on Aug. 10.
— Lynyrd Skynyrd, One More For the Fans – No. 81: The veteran rock band is celebrated by a cavalcade of guest stars on this new live set, which was recorded last year. Joining Lynyrd Skynyrd on the album are the likes of Cheap Trick, Peter Frampton, Alabama and Trace Adkins. The album was recorded and filmed on Nov. 12, 2014 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, and the show made its broadcast premiere on July 19 on AXS.
